Great You Are Booked...Now What? If you do get booked here are a few things that will help you: 1) Promote! We will promote the show on our end and we expect you to promote the show on your end. Most of you have websites, myspace accounts, e-mail lists, etc. Use them. Flyers work! Pass them out. Talk to people. Get to know people. Invite people. They won't come unless you invite them. 2) Load-in time is 6:30pm, doors are at 7:30pm, the show starts at 8pm. This is important! If you want to load in your gear backstage then show up at 6:30pm. No load in after 8:00pm, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 3) We are not going to give you an exact time that you play. Tell your fans that the show starts at 8pm and they should show up then if they want to see you play. Live music is subject to a lot of changes (mostly flaky people) and so we can not guarantee that you will play at a specific time. In fact we won't even pretend to. 4) If you break anything you will be held responsible for it. If you destroy or deface anything you will be held responsible for fixing or replacing it. If you steal anything you will be prosecuted. Music should be about having fun. We spend a great deal of time, effort, and money trying to make Dreamworld the best it can be. Every time you ruin something you are taking away from effort, time, and money we could be spending on something to make the place better and cooler. Think about it. 5) Have fun! You are in the entertainment business. Don't take yourself too seriously. Relax your ego a little and just have some fun. Get to know your fans. Learn something about the people around you. Enjoy the fact that you are getting to do what most people only dream about. 6) PROMOTE! PROMOTE! PROMOTE!!! I can't say it enough. If you want to make it you must promote your band...shamelessly! Being a great musician is not enough. People have to know where you are playing, what you stand for, and how to get your stuff...or else. Or else what? Or else they simply won't care about your band at all. There are plenty of other bands giving everything they have to make it. |
